Black in Motion

Black in Motion is driven by the search for a point where movement and form become indistinguishable. The works are shaped through continuous, flowing gestures in plaster, carried out within the narrow window in which the material remains responsive. The process moves forward without interruption until a state is reached in which further action would no longer remain in relation with what has already emerged.

This moment cannot be calculated in advance. It takes form through the relation between action and perception, where each gesture meets its own perception as it unfolds. The surface develops through a continuous adjustment between movement and attention, where movement is not expressed freely but allowed to settle into form.

As the plaster sets, motion gradually comes to rest while remaining present. What appears fluid is in fact fixed and what seems precise carries the trace of continuous movement. The work exists in this tension, where neither aspect dominates but both remain present.

Black allows this condition to become perceptible by reducing external reference. The viewer encounters a form that appears to shift between states, oscillating between softness and definition, between immediacy and control. What remains is not the gesture alone, but the relation that continues to unfold in perception.
